- Before this inauguration, the Indian Navy used to operate from 13 different offices located across the nation. The necessity for a combined headquarters was felt to ensure ease of operation.
- At present, the navy handles its operations from the major bases in Mumbai, Kochi, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Kolkata, Goa, Karwar, and Port Blair.
- The headquarters is a green building, demonstrating the Navy’s commitment to protecting the environment.
