Ace Indian shooter and Gold Medalist Abhinav Bindra has been conferred with the Olympic Order Award by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). He was selected for the award due to his outstanding contributions to the Olympic movement. He will receive the honour on the occasion of the 142nd IOC Session scheduled to be held in Paris, France on August 10, 2024.

About Abhinav Bindra
- In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Bindra created history by securing gold in the men’s 10-metre air rifle shooting, becoming the first Indian to an individual gold.
- Before 2008, India won eight golds in men’s hockey at the Olympics held in 1928, 1932, 1936, 1948, 1952, 1956, 1964 and 1980.
- He donated his gold medal-winning sports kit to the Olympic Museum.
- Neeraj Chopra became the second Indian athlete to win an individual gold in the Olympics. He won the medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the javelin throw.
